  • 2016

    In compliance with the Award Titles Scheme under the Qualifications Framework (QF), the English award title of the programme has been changed from “Yi Jin Diploma” to “Diploma Yi Jin”, with the Chinese award title remains unchanged. The recognition of the programme as a QF Level 3 qualification is not affected.

    Commissioned by the Qualifications Framework Secretariat to design and implement two Pilot Projects on QF Promotion for Industries in Schools – Logistics and Insurance Industries.

    Launched Yi Jin Diploma for the students of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education, 5,000 full-time students enrolled in this programme in the first cohort.

    Renamed to “Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education” (FSTE) to better reflect its representation in the four sectors – self-financing degree education, self-financing sub-degree education, continuing education and non-local education.

    Commissioned by the Government to revise the Common Descriptors of Associate Degrees and Higher Diplomas under the New Academic Structure.

    Supported and organized “The WTO and International Trade in Education Services: The Opportunities and Challenge of Transnational Higher Education”.

    Participated in implementing Qualifications Framework, including formation of Common Descriptors for Associate Degree and (Comparability of) Career- Oriented Curriculum.

    With the launch of Continuing Education Fund (CEF), Member Institutions provided the majority of CEF courses.

  • 2001

    Supported the development of Sub-degree programmes and the subsequent Common Descriptors for Associate Degrees. Many of the first-generation Community Colleges were established by Member Institutions.

  • 2000

    Launched Project Yi Jin (equivalent to the completion of local secondary school qualification) by collaborative efforts with the Education Bureau (EDB).

  • 1994

    Incorporated in Hong Kong with six founding Member Institutions.
