International Networks

Quality is a top priority for education. Members of FSTE place significant emphasis on the quality of their academic and professional programmes. In order to provide a platform for exchanges of ideas on Quality Assurance with partners overseas e.g. quality assurance agencies and educational institutions, the Federation joined two major international networks on QA in 2010.

The Federation is a Full Member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) and an Associate Member of the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN).

The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education

The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) is a world-wide association of over 200 organisations active in the theory and practice of quality assurance in higher education. In fact, the Network was formed in Hong Kong in 1991 when a conference of quality assurance agencies was convened under the initiative of the then Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation (HKCAA, now the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications).
FSTE Members are encouraged to participate in their activities and to build links with Members of INQAAHE.

The Asia-Pacific Quality Network

The Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) is a regional network of INQAAHE serving the needs of quality assurance agencies in higher education specifically for the Asia-Pacific region. Hong Kong played a significant role in the formation of APQN in 2003 and the founding President of APQN was a representative from Hong Kong. APQN helps to build alliances between agencies especially those who do not have a quality assurance agency of their own. It was the first network to receive the World Bank Development Grant Fund (DGF). Under the project of Global Initiative for Quality Assurance Capacity (GIQAC) and with the support of APQN Members, a series of project was kicked off of which include website expansion / maintenance and database development; internship and cross-regional staff exchange program, training materials and resource package, and Chinese Translation Project.
FSTE Members are encouraged to join APQN conferences and workshops, as well as events from other Members of APQN.
