Awardees
It is our great honour to receive the inaugural sector-wide Outstanding Award for Student Integrated Service (OASIS) from the Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education (FSTE). We appreciate the award has been introduced this year to promote and share good practices for student services offered in self-financing tertiary institutions. Not only did it provide us with a valuable opportunity to review our work but also allow us to reflect on the diverse services we are offering to meet the evolving needs of our students. Besides, the questions raised by the panellists were inspirational and their feedback was highly encouraging, reaffirming the quality and scope of the services we have provided to our students.
We believe that every student has unique potential and it is our mission to create a supportive environment where our students can develop themselves as well-rounded individuals. The Student Development and Counselling Services (SDCS) at HKU SPACE Community College strives to offer holistic care and support to students, aims to empowering them to overcome challenges in study and life, allowing them to choose and experience a wide range of student activities to explore and discover their potentials in various aspects. It is our goal to enrich students’ learning experience and support student development emotionally, psychologically, socially and vocationally such that they can achieve personal excellence to a brighter future.
My student services philosophy is deeply shaped by my journey from a service user as a student, to a service provider, and now a counsellor. I believe higher education nurtures the whole person—intellectually, emotionally, and socially. While academic achievement is important, it is the meaningful relationships, leadership opportunities, and personal growth that leave lasting impacts. Beginning with residence life and counselling internships in the United States, and progressing through diverse roles across Hong Kong institutions, I have embraced a holistic approach that empowers students to discover their strengths and resilience.
My goal is to foster inclusive, supportive environments where students feel encouraged to grow, face challenges, and reach their full potential. Student affairs is a vital profession blending prevention, development, and intervention to help students flourish.
Receiving the Outstanding Award for Student Integrated Service after a decade marks a meaningful milestone. I am grateful for the mentorship and collaboration from directors, supervisors, and colleagues who have supported me. Together, we advance quality student support and positively shape lives.
Honourable Mentions
At PolyU CPCE Employability Services Office (CESO), our philosophy centers on “means to an end” — the journey matters as much as the destination, and it’s a journey about purposeful growth of students with learning, reflection, and transformation. Our services turn that “means to an end” into actions by helping students translate academic achievement into meaningful career outcomes, aligning personal values with real-world demands.
We see experiential learning as the most powerful form of career education. Through internships, industry projects, professional connections, simulations, and service learning, students gain confidence, employability skills, and real-world insight. These experiences are not add-ons but essential parts of the learning journey, and CESO is committed to empowering students to thrive and creating lasting impact for future talents, employers, and society.
In my journey of student services, I truly believe that every student holds boundless potential within. I am devoted to empowering them with the strength, support, and opportunities they need to light up their path toward their dreams. I hope to grow hand in hand with my students, sharing in their challenges and triumphs. With every interaction, I am inspired to encourage students to fully engage in activities both on and off campus, nurturing their resilience so they can step confidently onto life’s stage and shine brightly.
