As part of the QEGS project, FSTE members were requested to contribute General Education (GE) courses in five areas: Chinese language, English language, arts and humanities, social sciences, and sciences (including IT). A template was prepared by the GE Working Group to collect the following on each contributed course: course title, no. of credits, course duration, contact hours; course description, aims and objectives; course intended learning outcomes; teaching and learning activities; types and weightings of assessments; syllabus topics and time allocation; text and reference materials. FSTE members could also provide the information on their own forms.

FSTE members were also requested to nominate reviewers in the above five areas. The collected GE courses were then sent to appropriate local reviewers, as well as Fulbright scholars, for their comment. A review form (Appendix 8 on page 129 of the General Education Guidebook) was provided for their use.
